Pioneers Art

Painting to Music

Music contains several elements.  Students from Pioneers listened to 5 different music tracks, listening out for the elements that create a individual track/song. With the aid of objects and different coloured paints Students created a collaborative piece of art, by moving the objects to the speed, rhythm & beat of the music. It was a fun afternoon with students really enjoying the freedom of expressive art.

Digestive T-Shirts

Pioneers have been designing their own T-shirt in art lessons. Each student had the brief of "the digestive system". First, we looked at the digestive system and the journey of food as it enters our mouths, learning familiar digestive organs' names. Each design was then coloured in, scanned and printed onto a T-shirt photo sheet. The last part of the task was for students to iron on their design.
As you can see, we have many amazing styles of individual work.
"I love this lesson!" was one of our student's reaction.

Flour "X-Rays"

Seniors had great fun in art when learning about the digestive systems. Each class teacher had to lay down on black card whilst the pupils sprinkled flour over them, leaving a human body shape on the floor. This represented a x-ray type image of inside a human body.

The pupils then looked at the different organs that make up the digestive system and placed them within the body outline.

Stained Glass Bottles

This term we have been looking at graffiti, urban art and light reflection. As part of our topic we looked at how light reflects and how it can illuminate colours. Seniors have made beautiful stained glass art using bright colours after looking at famous monuments and churches in the UK and Germany. The focus is on patterns and the use of colour.

Artist in Residence Morning

Each student looked at a mirror to look at facial features to try and create a resemblance of themselves onto a lantern. Michelle Dufaur was the visiting artist. As you can see from the photos, they had great fun and created awesome lanterns.
This was carried on through the week with our Senior students as it was a great project to experience.

During art this term students have been working on different projects related to their class topic. Mexico has been a brilliant experience looking at Patterns and Colours. They have made Mexican musical instruments, paper mache bowls/plates, designed and painted sugar skulls and made sombreros using terracota pots.
As you can see, each student has had fun and produced some amazing items.
